Don Bovingloh’s multifaceted background includes: writer, theatre director, television producer, as well as an experienced performer in more than 300 appearances in film, television, and theatre in Los Angeles and New York.  A few guest starring TV roles include: COLUMBO, NEWHART, DAYS OF OUR LIVES, GENERAL HOSPITAL, MURDER SHE WROTE, LOVE BOAT, MURPHY BROWN, THE HOGAN FAMILY, THE JEFFERSONS, JUST SHOOT ME, LAW AND ORDER and films and TV movies of the week. His career has afforded him the opportunity to work with actors Peter Falk, Mary Tyler Moore, Lucile Ball, Sandy Duncan, George Segal, Rosie O’Donnell, Angela Lansbury, Ann Miller, Olympia Dukakis, Warren Beatty, Betty White, Carol Channing, Faith Prince, Candice Bergen, and many others. He has acted in Equity theatres from coast to coast. Representative of plays and musicals Don has directed include: "Cabaret", "Hello, Dolly!", "How To Succeed…", "The Gin Game", "Inherit The Wind", "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum", "Sylvia", "Mornings at Seven", "Mame", "The Odd Couple", "Funny Girl", "Jacques Brel", "Baby" at the Pasadena Playhouse, "Berlin to Broadway", Sondheim’s "Into The Woods", and "La Cage aux Folles", a record breaking production in Mendocino, CA where he was Artistic Director. Recent productions include, "Drowsy Chaperone" at the Wilton Playshop and "Damn Yankees" and "Other Peoples’ Money" at the Brookfield Theatre. He hosted his own CBS TV show in St. Louis where he also produced a weekly magazine talk show starring Regis Philbin. At St. Louis University, Don earned a Master’s Degree in Theatre Arts.  He taught and created a high school theatre program for 5 years in St. Louis.  Don also has a BA degree in Philosophy and Theology from Christian Brothers University in Memphis, TN. For 12 years, Bovingloh was one of the performing members and a teacher at the prestigious Groundlings Theatre in Hollywood where he worked with fellow company members Phil Hartman, Paul Rubens, Julia Sweeney, Loraine Newman, Kathy Griffin, and Steve Guttenberg. Alumni of this theatre include Melissa McCarthy, Adam Carolla, Will Ferrell, Lisa Kudrow, Kristin Wig, Kevin Costner, Maya Rudolf, Michael McDonald, and many past and present cast members of NBC’s SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE and MADTV. Don also conducts comedy improv lectures for Celebrity Cruises.  Don continues to meld his years of professional experience with a passion for the arts and education through “EMPOWER-PLAY”, (Empowerplay.org) his professionally oriented workshops for actors. They include: “Fear and Risk Taking”, “Improv and Character Creation”, “Monologue Writing”, and “Singing the Song – A Musical Theatre Master Class”. These have been facilitated in New York, Hollywood, and theatres around the country. Through his workshops and by directing theatre, Don helps actors connect to their talents, instincts, and passions. This he does in a safe supportive atmosphere with humor, compassion, and an exuberant spirit that attracted actors to show business in the first place.
