Improv Workshop A is the first level of the Workshop Track. This class is great for actors and non-actors alike interested in exploring the concepts of improv in a fun and welcoming environment. The class is designed to build self-confidence and to develop creativity. No audition is required to sign up for Improv Workshop A.

IMPROV WORKSHOP B
Improv Workshop B (IWB) builds off the concepts explored in IWA, putting greater emphasis on character work and how that skillset can be applied to The Groundlings style of improv. IWB broadens the use of improv with greater emphasis on scene work.
Prerequisite: Passed Improv Workshop A
INTRO TO SKETCH
This class is open to all students with an interest in writing comedy. Learn how to create and find material for sketches. This extension course is offered approximately once a month.
INTRO TO IMPROV
This one-day improv class is open to all adults (18 years and above). If you've ever been curious about what improvisation is or how to get started doing it, this is the perfect class for you. This three hour workshop introduces students to the fundamentals of improv in an open, welcoming environment. Come see what The Groundlings is all about!

Basic is the first level of the Core Track program. Students are introduced to the fundamentals of improvisation through the use of games and exercises in a fast-paced, challenging environment. Basic lays the foundation for The Groundlings style of improv and sketch, which each level above Basic (Intermediate and Advanced Improv) will build upon. To sign up for a Basic class, you must first pass the Audition for Basic.

Intermediate Improv, the second level of the Core Track program, builds on the skills developed in Basic to craft well-structured scenes while introducing advanced theory and technique. Intermediate emphasizes character development through exercises, scene work, and monologues.
Prerequisite: Passed Basic Improv
Advanced Improv focuses on continued character development and explores different improv styles and techniques. This class culminates with a show on our G3 Stage. Finishing Advanced Improv is the final class in the Core Track program.
Prerequisite: Passed Intermediate Improv
Writing lab is the first level of the Performance Track. Students invited into this class will have the opportunity to develop scripted scene and monologue material to be performed in a final showcase. Participation in this class requires completion of the Core Track and an invitation by your graduating instructor.
Length of each class session: 3 1/2+ hours
Prerequisite: Invitation by Advanced Improv instructor
The second level of the Performance Track, Advanced Lab students work to develop material (both scripted and improvised) for two performances - one after six weeks of class and another at the end of the session. Participation in this class requires an invitation by your Writing Lab instructor.

CORE TRACK DROP-IN
This one day class builds upon the fundamentals of improvisation learned in Core Track courses through the use of theater games and exercises. This class is open to anyone in the Core Track courses (Basic, Intermediate or Advanced), and is a great way to stay active in our program, meet other students, and experience new teachers!
Must have completed or are currently enrolled in Basic
STUDENT PERFORMANCE SERIES (SPS)
Student Performance Series are classes that focus on specific skills and formats, such as building characters or Longform Improv. Soms SPS's culminate in a performance.
Must have completed or are currently enrolled in Intermediate

A WOW is a one-day work out workshop that uses the skills developed in Basic, Intermediate & Advanced to concentrate on scene work and character development in both improvisational scenes and monologues.
Must have passed Intermediate.
A series of four WOW classes. Enroll in all four of these one-day workout workshops and you will be eligible to perform in a show on the Groundlings G3 stage!

An eight-week writing workshop where students will write sketches, monologues and a smattering of autobiographical pieces. Taught by Groundlings Alum Heather Morgan.
Heather Morgan has written for such television shows as The Comeback, Running With Scissors, and The Dana Carvey Show. Her feature film Bark! was an official selection of The Sundance Film Festival. Her one woman show, Dad, Cancer, Fear and Boys, went to The Aspen Comedy Festival. She was picked as one of Variety's Ten Screenwriters To Watch.

TEEN WORKSHOPA five-class workshop that focuses on our unique short-form improv style. These classes are usually once a week, and culminate in a performance on the Groundlings G3 Student Stage. They are offered in two age groups: ages 11-14 and ages 15-18. TEEN LONGFORM WORKSHOPA specialized five-class improv workshop that focuses on long-form style improv. These classes are usually once a week and culminate in a performance on the Groundlings G3 Student Stage. They are offered in two age groups: ages 13-15 and ages 16-18. In the summer, we offer one-week intensive versions of this workshop. We highly recommend students take the Teen Improv Workshop above or have previous improv experience before attending this class. How to Register for a Class
We have a rolling registration, and new classes are posted every Monday afternoon. To enroll, students may register two ways:
1) Online, with credit card.
2) IN PERSON, with cash, check or credit card. A minimum non-refundable, non-transferable deposit of $100 (applied to the student's tuition) is required at the time of enrollment. We do not offer refunds. The student is solely responsible for registering and paying for classes.
**Each session we offer as many different times as our space allows. Basic and Intermediate classes will be offered twice a week for six weeks and once a week for twelve weeks.
